Reflections on Teaching with Technology

Since the beginning of my graduate training, I have had the privilege of learning how to utilize newer technologies in the classroom.  Whether it be through a live classroom Twitter feed, incorporation of Spaaze in student group projects, or engaging with my students outside of the classroom through an online blog, I realize that today's learners see value in bringing educational life to these tools.  The most important lesson I have learned in doing this is that I always have to remember that every student comes from a different background.  While technology can be useful, it can also be expensive, meaning that I use technologies which are accessible to all students on campus (as opposed to only those with the newest iPhone).  Also, I've learned that often times, my students are the most up-to-date on informative and useful technology that can be used in the classroom!
